The Customer

Oakbank Waste Management Ltd (T/A Oakbank Services) is a waste management company based in South West Scotland. Striving hard to re-use all waste and by diverting it from landfill.

Oakbank Services handles all types of specialised wastes as well as providing haulage, skip hire and trade waste bin collections.

It is owned by the Dundas Chemical Company where Cat 1 and Cat 3 animal by-product rendering takes place. Dundas also specialise in the collection of fallen stock from farms in Scotland and the North of England. Turning waste into renewable energy.

Oakbank waste management is owned by well-known Scottish rally driver David Bogie, who in a Mitsubishi EVO was the first person to hold Scottish and British rallying championships simultaneously.

The Challenge

With an ever increasing demand for their services, and continually increasing tonnage of material, Oakbank wanted to update their existing facilities with a new Materials Recovery Facility – MRF. David wanted to increase the volume of construction and demolition waste that could be processed. Any new system would have to fit inside an existing building, and leave as much space as possible for vehicle movements.

The Solution

The Kiverco system had to be designed to fit inside an existing building on site. Kiverco’s dedicated project team undertook a detailed site and engineering survey prior to design sign off.

The new system of a belt feeder feeding a KL625 trommel moving in line to a double sided picking conveyor enclosed in a fully insulated cabin. The picking area allows for 4 different products – wood, paper, hard plastics and residual waste to be removed, alongside film plastic and ferrous metal, prior to a clean inert hardcore is left, whicis deposited outside the shed. A collection belt and transfer conveyor linked to the KL625 trommel allows of ease of access to the 0 – 30 mm trommel fines. Kiverco also installed a feed conveyor for the existing baler.

The 4 man installation team had the plant installed and test run within 10 days of starting on site. All installation took place with minimal disruption on site enabling Oakbank to continue with their day to day operation unimpeded.

David Bogie, Director of Oakbank Waste Management Limited commented: “Kiverco offered us a uniquely tailored solution to our needs. They were always flexible in their approach at all stages of the project – detailed design, installation and commissioning. The experience that the Kiverco team brought to this project meant that there was no disruption to the day to day running of our business. The plant was installed within the agreed timescale.”

John Lines, Sales and Marketing Director stated that: “Kiverco are delighted to have been chosen to undertake the MRF project for Oakbank Services. Working closely with David’s requirements, we were able to design, install and commission Oakbank’s new plant on time and within budget.”
