According to the Department of Health, in Northern Ireland, in a typical year, over 1,400 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This highlights the need for life-saving equipment to be readily accessible in every community.
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a life-saving device that can restore normal heart rhythm in victims of sudden cardiac arrest. If someone suffers a cardiac arrest action must be taken within minutes. Quick and easy access to an AED allows more people to respond to a medical emergency that requires defibrillation.
Paul Carolan, General Manager stated:
“The safety of our staff and our neighbours is something we really care about at Kiverco. We are pleased to announce the installation of a new AED. Many of our staff live locally and we felt that it was important to ensure that there was adequate lifesaving equipment which is accessible to all. The AED is located beside the front gates of Kiverco, which can be accessed by anyone at any time of day or night, by following the simple instructions posted on the access door of the unit.”
This year, many Kiverco employees received Automated External Defibrillator ‘(AED) training provided by PFI Health Care Training This training provided staff with the skills and knowledge to operate an AED effectively.
Anne McKiver, Owner of Kiverco stated:
“Although we hope that we never have to use this equipment, we hope that this equipment might offer peace of mind to our employees and our neighbours.”
